However, on 5 December 2011, the fight was cancelled because Wladimir checked into a hospital to have a kidney stone removed. After the removal operation he suffered from fever and inflammation.The fight was rescheduled for 3 March 2012. The fight occurred on 3 March 2012, with Wladimir Klitschko knocking out Jean-Marc Mormeck in the fourth round. Wladimir Klitschko has already planned his next fight. On 7 July he will face Tony Thompson in a rematch in Stade de Suisse Wankdorf, Bern, Switzerland. Tony Thompson has been named as Wladimir Klitschko’s mandatory defense by the IBF.

Thompson had a dominating TKO win over Luan Krasniqi in a WBO title eliminator on July 14, 2007. As of November 2007, he was ranked ninth in the heavyweight division by Ring Magazine, and was the only American-born fighter in the top ten.Thompson challenged WBO and the IBF Heavyweight champion Wladimir Klitschko in Germany on July 12, 2008, but lost by way of Knock out with 1:28 remaining of the 11th round, earning him his second career loss.
